Fabiënne Thewissen, LMM

Legal advisor

SPEE advocaten & mediation Maastricht

My name is Fabiënne Thewissen, and I work as a lawyer (not admitted to the bar) at SPEE advocaten & mediation. I primarily handle cases in labour law and company law, as well as intellectual property law (IP) and AI practice. These are dynamic areas of law that require keen legal insight, substantive expertise, and a business-oriented yet personal approach. These qualities define me. I enjoy delving into the subject matter, am straightforward, yet possess strong empathy.

I am driven by my passion for law and my desire to support clients from start to finish. My aim is to provide tailored guidance to each client. With attention to detail and a goal-oriented approach, I am fully committed to achieving the best results. I am only satisfied when I have found an appropriate solution.

From a young age, it was clear that I had an affinity for law. It was almost inevitable that after obtaining my pre-university diploma, I would start a Bachelor’s degree in law at Maastricht University.

During my studies, I gained valuable experience as a paralegal at various law firms. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I successfully completed a Master’s degree in Labour and Company Law. Additionally, in recent years, I have acquired extensive knowledge of IP law, which I continue to expand. During my Bachelor’s degree, I studied the protection of intellectual property rights for creations made by artificial intelligence (AI). During my Master’s, I built upon this interest, writing my thesis on the liability of OpenAI if ChatGPT incorrectly cites scientific works or fabricates results. These topics align well with my advisory work on IP and AI at SPEE advocaten & mediation.
